Fish Camp

Today we started Fish Camp at Circle Stone High. When I first got there, I had to get this packet that had my schedule outline (not my official one) and then I was assigned to a classroom. I followed a stream of freshmen outside, into another building, up a staircase, and through several halls until I got to the hall that my assigned room, 574 was.
I went down the hall, looking for it. Most classrooms had people sitting quietly at the desks, but there was this one classroom with the lights off and a huge mob of boys heading in. And, yes, to my luck-- welcome to Classroom 574.
As I walk in, the high schooler that was in charge said, "Hey, look, all guys!" then he saw me and said, "Yeah! Our first girl!"
Yeah. First girl. ONLY girl.
Thankfully, they let me move to the next room, where I found my orchestra friend, Racket. I took the seat in front of him, but that didn't really matter anyway, cause we had to stand up and play this name game (which I am not going to explain).
Then we went on this little tour around the school. They have a new building, too, and the new library. Is. AMAZING.
No, seriously, it's so fancy and it's twice as big as the Woods of Brent's new band hall. It has those sofa chairs and at least thirty flat-screen computers, with really cool mounted lights on the columns and matching light/chandeliers. It's quite amazing. I think Skandie would like it.
But what really caught my eye was the FRESHMAN theatre room. It's a stage. Literally. Okay, no, it doesn't go up, but it's just like a stage. Completely black room, lights from the ceiling, other kinds of lights and cameras all around, it was AMAZING!!!!!!
I really hope the schedule they gave me is really messed up (cause they put me in both band and orchestra) so I can be in Theatre. I would be soooo excited if I get in!!!!!
The worst part? Waiting forty-five minutes in a line to get our IDs made. Okay, imagine this-- hall. Regular halls. With three hundred freshmen crammed inside in a line. (And that wasn't even our whole class... Not even half...)
And then after all that waiting, I was only halfway through the line. And then they made us get out and go to the Lecture hall where we listened to a teacher talk about expectations and such. And then came the "pep rally."
This school is really, really quiet. And the cheerleaders? I thought the Woods of Brent's cheerleaders were uncapable of many things. No, I was wrong.
But they did have this small dance troupe do a dance, and one of them was really, really good. Like... really good. The others were okay... at least compared to her.
I was going to get a ride home with Racket, but neither of us had gotten our IDs yet. I told him we should go get them, but he just said he would do it tomorrow. Well, I told him I couldn't do it tomorrow, so I called my dad, made sure he could pick me up, and went back to the line.
I waited twenty minutes behind wierdo guys who kept bothering me. "Can I have a hug?" "Will you be my new best friend?" NO!!
Finally, I got my picture taken, and the card printed out.
And after this I'll go pick up my textbooks.
I really can't believe this is happening...
I never though it would. I wish I could stay at the Woods of Brent. Miss you guys!!
